Bend Beer Chase

In consideration for my registration in the 2024 Bend Beer Chase (hereinafter "BBC"), I understand and agree to the following:

  • As correspondence is exclusively via email, the captain must provide an accurate email address.
  • Full registration payment by credit card is due with registration and team registration will not be official until payment is received. Please follow all registration instructions on the website and in confirmation emails to ensure you are officially registered.  Your team registration is non-refundable (unless you purchase registration insurance from Protecht).

    Cascade Relays has partnered with Protecht to offer reliable insurance coverage to protect your team's entry fees for the 2024 Bend Beer Chase. Their Fanshield registration insurance plan covers 100% of your team's non-refundable entry fees should any unexpected circumstances arise and prevent anyone on your team from racing. 

    Team captains have the option to buy registration insurance for their team during check-out or anytime up until one month prior to the event using this link.

    The cost to protect your ticket is 9.15% of the final team registration price, which is calculated after any discount or deferral codes. If needed, the policy can be canceled within three days of purchase for a full refund. Want more info?! Check it out here.

  • The minimum age for participants is fourteen (14) years of age. The parent or legal guardian of any participants between the ages of fourteen (14) and eighteen (18), must sign the waiver of liability as well.
  • I understand that my team is responsible for picking one of the two volunteer options:
    • Option #1- Supply volunteers: Each 3 to 6-person team will supply one volunteer. Individuals, Solo runners, and Pairs are not required to provide a volunteer. If our team does not supply the required volunteer(s), I understand that we will not be permitted to start. I understand if our team elects to provide our own volunteer and our volunteer do not show up for their assignment, a penalty donation of $300 must be made to the "Hire a Volunteer" program in order to receive our team finisher prize & medals, not be officially disqualified, and to be accepted to participate in Cascade Relay events in future years.
    • Option #2- "HIRE A VOLUNTEER" - 100% of funds go directly to a local non-profit organization who will supply volunteers as a fund-raising opportunity for their organization. Support our local communities and the non-profit organizations that participate in the race and take the stress out of finding volunteers.
      • If you chose to support the Hire a Volunteer program, within seven to ten (7-10 days) of receiving your registration, Cascade Relays Foundation will email you a Pledge Invoice for your HAV donation amount.  This HAV donation can now be paid online with a credit card.

  • I understand my team must be able to complete the race prior to the closure of the course at 7:00 PM on Saturday.

  • I understand that once registration is paid for, the registration fee is non-refundable. However, a new captain can be designated from within the team roster. 

    I acknowledge and agree that there are no refunds if BBC is canceled or delayed due to causes beyond Cascade Relays LLC control. I understand that Cascade Relays LLC will do everything in its power to hold the relay as advertised, but due to the nature of the event, extenuating circumstances not under the control of the event organizers, may necessitate course changes or cancellation for the safety of the participants. These circumstances include, but are not limited to: weather and other forces of nature, last minute road closures and construction, health pandemic or mass illness, forest fires in the vicinity of the course or hazardous air quality in the area.

    Due to the on-going and unknown potential impacts on events, Cascade Relays will do everything in its power to safely produce this event while acknowledging that requirements for safely producing our event beyond our control may be required for the safety of all participants, volunteers, event staff, and our local community.  I acknowledge and understand that these policies may be implemented by Cascade Relays and there will be no refunds or future deferrals of our team registration under any circumstance.  

    I also understand that waivers (Acknowledgement And Assumption Of Risk And Release And Indemnity Agreement) will need to be signed and submitted by all runners/walkers and if applicable, volunteers and van drivers.

I understand that the course for the BBC is held on public roads - there are no road closures, and minimal traffic control. Teams are self-supporting! All members of your team must be made aware that there will be vehicle traffic at all times and several of the Exchange Points are along busy roads. I also understand and will inform my team that any road hazards along the course are NOT marked, the route goes through National Forests and other unpopulated areas where wildlife lives, and that there are cattle guards and areas of open range (livestock not fenced in) so caution is required from all runners and drivers. I also understand that the BBC route is both rural and isolated and that 911 emergency treatment will not be immediately available.

I am aware of the highly contagious nature of bacterial and viral diseases including the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) (collectively, the "Disease") and the risk that I may be exposed to or contract the Disease or other infectious diseases by participating in BBC. I understand and acknowledge that such exposure or infection may result in serious illness, personal injury, permanent disability, death, or property damage. I understand that while Cascade Relays has implemented preventative measures to reduce the spread of the Disease, Cascade Relays cannot guarantee that I will not become infected with the Disease or other infectious diseases while participating in BBC  and that participating in the BBC may increase my risk of contracting the Disease.

Please initial your understanding and agreement of the public nature of the roads of the CLR course, and of the rural location and conditions that exist on and in the area of the CLR route, and possible course changes if circumstances call for it. 

  • I understand that as the captain I am responsible for informing my team of the rules of the BBC, that they follow them, and for the behavior of my team. This includes, but is not limited to respect for all participants and volunteers, quiet zones in or near residential areas, that team vehicles and runners/walkers are not exempt from state and local traffic laws, and that private property is being used by the BBC and must be respected. Failure to abide by the relay rules may, at the discretion of the race official, result in immediate disqualification.

Please initial your understanding and agreement of team etiquette and needing to follow traffic laws. You also agree that if your team is disqualified for any rule infractions, your team will depart from the race in an orderly manner.

    Hire a Volunteer Donation
    Registration between August 1st, 2023 - December 14th, 2023 (per volunteer) - $150
    Registration between December 15th, 2023 - February 28th, 2024 (per volunteer) - $200
    Registration between March 1st, 2024 - May 1st, 2024 (per volunteer) - $250
    Change to HAV within 30 days of the event (per volunteer) - $300

    If you chose to support the "Hire a Volunteer" (HAV) program, Cascade Relays Foundation will email you an invoice for your donation fee within 2-3 weeks of registration. Payment can be made by check or credit card (3% processing fee applies).

    *A team can decide to change from Volunteer Option #1 to Volunteer Option #2 up until March 1st without penalty - please contact [email protected] to make this switch.
